爽やかな雰囲気と柄が特徴である。
安土桃山時代頃から湯上りに着て肌の水分を吸い取らせる目的で広く用いられるようになり、
これが江戸時代に入って庶民の愛好する衣類の一種となった
江戸時代の頃から湯上りから寝巻、夏祭りや花火観賞の際など、夕方以降に着られていた。
伝統芸能などの稽古着として使用される。

YUKATA is KIMONO which wears at night.
As it has good water absorption, it is used for after baths, night rolls, night festivals, and so on.
Kimonos have few opportunities to wear, but yukata is still worn in summer.
I think people who came for sightseeing in Japan have been to the hot spring.
Therefore there are many yukatas in things that are prepared when you go to the bath or go to bed.
